I went to Alaska this weekend to see one of my best friends Bryan Murphy.  I left Thursday morning and got their mid afternoon.  Its funny one of the first things we did together was hit a WOD.  We went to Arctic CrossFit and there I meet a lot of new faces. Rachael, the head trainer of the gym was super cool! The WOD was: 5 rounds for time of: 5 Power Cleans (At a heavy load) 15 GHD Sit Ups run 400 meters.  There was a couple of us who did the WOD and it was really cool to see how other gyms operate.  This is an open gym so there is a lot of stuff going on.  But the gym is also in a hanger with tons of equipment and space so there wasnt a problem.  After that I went out to dinner with Murph and then came home.

The next day was a calm day.  Murph had work so I dropped him off and went back to the gym to exercise.  I did another WOD similar to yesterday’s.  It was 6 rounds for time of: 3 Squat Snatch @205, 10 CTB Pull Ups, 200 meter run.  The snatch I focused on form and made sure I did my reps right.  I only failed to lifts which is epic for me considering the snatch is the worst lift for me.  After that I scooped up Murph and we went to lunch.  We kind of just farted around all day until the night where we did 5×5 deadlift.  Murph was pretty scared that he was going to tweak his back.  But he played it smart and backed off.  He also had a specific PT test in the morning in preparation for Afghanistan.  He hit 405#x5 which is bitchin’.  I could only hit 465# for 5 and couldnt go up on a single rep afterwords.

I didnt exercise the rest of the weekend. I kind of wanted to explore AK a bit more and just relax.  Its been pretty stressful the last couple weeks and it was nice to get away and not have to worry about much.  I am extremely pumped and sad that I got to see my boy Murph.  I miss that fool.  It was awesome to see him but it sucks that he has to deploy again.  I wish that dude luck and to be safe!!!  Love you man!
